Mayor's Round-Up and Sale of Champions
The Mayor's Round-Up and Sale of Champions will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall. Business people from the region will gather for a social evening with dinner and a program and auction to follow.
The highlights of the evening will be the presentation of the Supreme Row winners, which is the $12,000 purse split between the consignors and the buyers of the Supreme Champion bull and heifer. The purse is sponsored by the Tri-State Neighbor, Wells Fargo Bank, and Campbell Supply Co. $3500 will go to The consignors of the Supreme Champion Bull and Heifer will recieve $3,500 and the buyers will recieve $2,500. The Supreme Row Featherlite Trailer will be presented to one lucky winner out of the 12 exhibitors sitting on Supreme Row. This trailer, with a complimentary one-year lease, will be provided by Featherlite Trailers and Iverson-Max from Mitchell, SD.
Also, that evening will be the Sale of Champions. The top 10 market lambs, the top 10 market swine and the top six market beef will be sold at an auction. Business people will bid on the top market livestock; they aren't actually purchasing the animals, but instead pay a premium to the producers on top of the market value. Sioux Falls' own Mayor Dave Munson will kick off the sale with the Grand Champion Market Beef. Record premiums were set at last year's Sale of Champions with more than $48,000 generated in premiums paid directly to the exhibitors attending from all over the United States. It is truly a fun and exciting event for all who participate.
