MINNESOTA’S BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS STATUS UPGRADED

Minnesota’s Modified Accredited Advanced zone was upgraded to“Accredited Free” by USDA APHIS VS in October. This zone encompasses all but a small portion of north central MN. South Dakota import requirements include TB testing of all dairy breed cattle over 6 months except steers and spayed heifers, regardless of the state or zone of origin. Non-dairy cattle less than 18 months imported to SD from MN to be quarantined for feeding and slaughter will be permitted to enter with no identification requirements. All other classes of cattle to be imported must be officially identified. The former Modified Accredited Area in northern MN, including parts of Beltrami, Lake of the Woods, Roseau, and Marshall Counties has been upgraded to Modified Accredited Advanced status. Current MAA import requirements will apply to cattle imported to SD from the MAA zone of Minnesota
