Cattle Show

The Sioux Empire Farm Show is host to several market & breeding cattle shows during the week of Jan. 22-26, in addition to the purebred shows/sales. Exhibitors from all over the United States attend the cattle shows at the Sioux Empire Farm Show.

Feeder Heifer Show
The Feeder Heifer showwill be held Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. Heifers will be judged on their market characteristics. In 2007, 51 heifers competed in this show. The judge for the 2008 Feeder Heifer show is TBD.

Market Beef Show
The Sioux Empire Farm Show Market Beef show will be held Friday, Jan 25 at 9 a.m. The top 6 market beef of the market beef show will be sold at the Mayor's Round-up & Sale of Champions later that day. Premiums paid to the top 6 market beef ranged at the 2007 Sale of Champions ranged from $1600 to $6500. The judge of the market beef show is Kevin Jensen from Courtland, Kan.

Feeder Steer Show
The Feeder Steer Show will be held Friday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. In 2007, 153 steers showed. The steers are separated into divisions of purebreds and crossbreds. The top 10 steers receive cash awards. The judge for the feeder steer show is Kevin Jensen from Courtland, Kan.

Breeding Heifer Show
The Breeding Heifer show will be held Saturday, Jan 26 at 12 p.m. In 2007, 177 breeding heifers showed. The heifers are separated into divisions of purebreds and crossbreds. The top 10 heifers receive cash awards. The judge for the breeding heifer show is Kevin Jensen from Courtland, Kan.
